Summary
Italy has observed some of the largest net increases in luxury property prices in the markets we surveyed. Italy has also
seen signi昀椀cant positive migration of HNW individuals in the past year. Buyers attracted to Italy are focused on lifestyle
improvements, residency and tax bene昀椀ts. Italy’s historic culture steeped in renaissance and luxury attracts buyers who are
interested in high-end cultural experiences. Alongside this the Italy Residence by Investment programme has signalled to
global buyers that Italy is open to foreign investment in its economy. Unlike the global picture, downsizing does not feature as
buyer or seller motivations in the market, with the opposite being a driving factor in Italy’s real estate market.
"Venice is a small but international market and is an international brand. The quality of
life is certainly very high, with an incredible number of high-end restaurants, bars of all
kinds, some of the world's most important museums, the Art and Architecture Biennale,
and the Venice Film Festival. And then, of course, the fact that there are no cars in the
historic center and you can only get around on foot or by motorboat is something that
appeals greatly to those who are focused on lifestyle."
