Welcome to Big Sky.
Big Sky is one of the Rocky Mountain North and Montana’s foremost winter travel destinations for Alpine
and Nordic skiing, and a summer destination for Blue Ribbon trout 昀椀shing, mountain biking, hiking, rafting,
canoeing, golf, trail riding and other mountain based outdoor recreation.
Surrounded by the Gallatin National Forest, and nestled between over 500,000 acres of Wilderness on both the
Northern and Southern borders, Big Sky is located midway between Bozeman and West Yellowstone, Montana,
just a short drive to Yellowstone National Park and the wonders of the greater Yellowstone ecosystem. Elevations
range from 6000 feet above sea level in the Canyon, to 6500 feet above sea level in the Meadow Area all the
way to the Peak of Lone Mountain at 11,166 ft.
Summer recreation o昀昀erings in Big Sky are many and varied. In the Mountain Village area, the Resort o昀昀ers over
40 miles of mountain bike accessible trails during the summer as well as hiking, zip-line tours and water sports on
Lake Levinski. In the Meadow area, golf is available, as well as mountain bike and hiking trails, white water rafting,
昀氀y 昀椀shing, horseback trail riding, climbing, and a host of summertime actives for the family.
Home base to two outstanding world-class ski resorts, the Big Sky Ski and Summer Resort and Lone Mountain
Ranch. The Big Sky Ski and Summer Resort o昀昀ers 5,850 aces of skiable Alpine terrain o昀昀ering 317 runs accessed
by 36 lifts, including the Lone Peak Tram to the 11,166 ft. top of Lone Peak, from where you can look down on
Jackson Hole’s Rendezvous Peak at 10,927 ft. and the newly upgraded Madison 8 chair lift. Lone Mountain Ranch
maintains 45 miles of groomed Nordic ski trails, hiking and horseback trails, an Orvis Fly 昀椀shing Shop, guest
cabins, saloon and restaurant.
The Big Sky area is also ideally located for easy access to both the Gallatin and Madison Rivers, where Blue
Ribbon trout 昀椀shing awaits anglers and novices alike. Or enjoy the thrill of a scenic or Class II-IV white water
rafting voyage on the Gallatin River, right here in your back yard.
The main attraction, and the reason that adventurers and travelers have been 昀氀ocking to Big Sky for over 45
years, remains unchanged: the exceptional, expansive, unmatched natural beauty and world class access to all of
the wonders that are available in this area.
The Big Sky real estate market includes Ski in Ski out properties in Cascade, Moonlight and Spanish Peaks
Mountain Clubs, as well as the Yellowstone Club. Neighborhoods in the Meadow area include the original Meadow
Village, as well as Southfork, Town Center, Westfork, and Aspen Groves. The Big Sky real estate market o昀昀ers
something for everyone, from majestic estate properties to well-maintained condominiums, single family homes,
vacant land and golf course adjacent properties. We know them all, and can help you narrow down the 昀椀eld
to properties that 昀椀t your needs and circumstances, and our decades of experience will guide you through the
process.
We’ve lived in Big Sky full time since 1993, raised three wonderful kids, and have participated in its growth, hiked
the trails, skied the XC and Alpine runs, enjoyed the restaurants and activities and serve on many boards and
community initiatives.
While some folks might say there is a “Best time of year to visit”, we’ve lived here for three decades and can attest
to the fact that anytime is the best time to be in Big Sky!
